Bits From The Weekend

Pictures from the weekend. You can read the list of what we got up to below.
In other news, I am thinking of moving my blog across to wordpress...any thoughts on this? I’m getting bored of all the problems I seem to encounter regularly with blogger...like today. I can’t see the followers on my blog, or on lots of other blogs I read. This has happened several times lately, and I know it’s not a particularly big deal, but it’s just another little niggle with blogger. Can you see my followers? If so, which browser are you using? Mine is Safari.

Update...well at the moment, I can see them again, but who knows how long they’ll stick around for this time? Thank you for all your helpful comments :)

What A Weekend!

This marks the end of a very full-on and fun-packed weekend. My husband, Dan turned 30 yesterday, and we have crammed so much into the past two days. I’ll list some of the weekend’s activities...

Saturday
*Baked a lemon and polenta cake at 6am.
*Bikes and brunch in ‘Look Mum No Hands’ (Old Street).
*A waterbus from Camden Lock to Little Venice.
*General mooching around Little Venice.
*Shirley Hughes exhibition at the Illustration Cupboard.
*Cinnamon buns from the Nordic Bakery.
*Home to pick my mum up from the station (she came all the way from Devon to babysit....what a nice mum)!
*Dinner and jazz at the 606 club (just the two of us). This was so good.
*Home in a cab after deciding we were too old to wait around in night bus queues with drunken youth (which once upon a time, could have been us, so didn’t get too grumpy about it). Very relieved we didn’t get on a night bus, as we may have ended up lost amidst Bon Jovi fans at Hyde Park. Woah.

Sunday
*A small lie-in. 7.45am....pretty good these days (thanks mum)
*Breakfast pancakes.
*Lunch at St John’s Restaurant (just the two of us). Delicious.
*Home for more cake.
*Children to bed.
*Beer and left over pizza on the balcony.
*Much needed sleep.

A super weekend, and a scorcher too! I have very sore feet and a very light purse, but it was all worth it. Happy Birthday Dan!

I hope you have all had lovely ones too :)

More

Yes, I am becoming a little obsessed with taking pictures of the sun setting. I just can’t help it. Tonight’s was breathtaking, and accompanied my precious moments of evening peace perfectly. Plus, I think that it peed all over Tuesday’s sunset! Time for bed now I think.
Thanks for all your lovely comments! Go and eat burgers!

Eat

Sometimes we have a “what the hell, life is for living” moment. This was one of those moments. Couldn’t really afford it, but we thought we’d eat out last night to celebrate the fact that Maisie is starting her new school today. Good luck Maisie! Delicious burgers, fries (in my opinion, skinny = fries and fat = chips), onion rings and brownie milkshakes. yum.com. In fact, I was so engrossed in my burger, I accidentally called Bertie ‘Bergie!’ They won’t let me forget that one!

In other news, I now have a Seventy Tree Facebook page, which you can ‘like’ if you wish to. I can’t say I’ve really got the hang of it yet, but I’m sure that will come with time.....

Sunday Funday

A few more pictures from our Sunday. After breakfast, we headed out to The Chocolate Factory open studios. What a fantastic space! It was nice to see Helen Rawlingson’s work and studio, although sadly I didn’t get to say hello as she was out at the time. There were some nice new discoveries there though, so it was well worth the visit.
The day was very much based around lunch. My husband is a mega-foodie, and he’d heard great things about a ‘salt beef’ restaurant in Edgeware, so we thought we’d try it out. Good plan, Dan; we weren’t disappointed. It was yum (sorry vegetarians)! On the way home, we spotted a record shop and as it was fathers day, we couldn’t ignore!
Enjoy your days! I have a poorly Bertie here, so I think it’s a stay-at-home day.

Sunday Breakfast

Hello! I hope you all had nice weekends. We had a super day yesterday. Being fathers day, it was a good excuse to have an extra special, leisurely breakfast and a nice day out. I’ll show you some more pictures of our day later or tomorrow.

Pink

Hello Friday and hello you! I am spying a lot of pink around my home today. I like it. The postcard in the second to last picture is by Amy Walters. We had some goodies arrive from her this week; what a lovely lady she is!
Wishing you all very happy weekends! I’m going to tuck into my tea and croissant and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet whilst Bertie sleeps....better put some washing on....and do some work too.....ah well.

Balcony

Hello, I hope you are all well? The sun is shining, so today looks promising. We have a balcony here at our new flat. And I have to say, I am loving it! Last night was particularly nice, as when Bertie had gone to sleep, we sat and ate our dinner out there, watching the sun setting. I even had a nice glass of....I’d like to say ‘wine' as it would fit the picture I’m painting here, but I didn’t have wine, I had cider. I’m not a big fan of wine. Cider and beer are more my cup of tea. Actually, a cup of tea, that’s probably more me these days! Have a lovely day.

Look.....

.....No that’s not me on the cover of Marie Claire (maybe next month, I’ll see how I feel). However, my typewriter postcard is featured in the latest issue. Pretty cool huh?! The article is all about getting back into letter writing in this online world we live in. You can find this postcard (along with other postcards and prints) in my shop.

Monday

Hello! How are you all this Monday? We are hanging out at home today. The weather is dull, and I am tired from a busy weekend, involving a wedding and lots of driving (the sweets came from the wedding). I seem to be constantly hungry today and want to eat lots of sweet things. Much needed to get me through the day, I reckon. Have a good one :)
p.s. Many thanks for all your lovely, lovely comments! And thank you also for answering my question about which film you like to use. Most helpful you are! I am looking forward to trying out some of your suggestions.

On Film

I got a bargain camera on Ebay recently, a Canon AV-1. I had been watching it on there for a week or so, and it didn’t sell, so I put in a cheeky low offer. Bingo-bango, it’s mine! Here are some from my first roll, taken around the new neighbourhood and at home last weekend. I’m looking forward to more attempts and of course improving my skills (or lack of)! Does anyone reading this use film? If so, what is your favourite film to use?
I hope you all have nice weekends. We’re off to a wedding near Cheltenham tomorrow. See you next week :)

Evening Escapade

We had a lovely picnic in Finsbury Park last evening. You can cycle there along the Parkland Walk, which we are fortunate enough to have an entrance onto from our road. Bertie thoroughly enjoys being transported around in his trailer (which I will add, was found at the recycling centre)!
On the menu was frittata, salad, olives, humous, breadsticks, blueberries and iced buns. Pretty tasty. Bertie has a fascination with sticks at the moment, and even one of his sticks had a little dip in the humous (I could see his logic, but had to dispose of that one promptly)!
My bike has had a respray recently, and I am really pleased with the colour.

Morning

Bertie wakes up around 5am EVERY day. And he is raring to go from the moment he opens his eyes. He is everywhere and into everything! Balls are thrown, furniture climbed upon, anything goes, as long as it is noisy and slightly destructive! It’s a good job we’re pretty sound-proofed here.
