Kenwood

A cloudy day, no colour in the sky and starting to feel very autumnal. That was Tuesday. Suddenly I am wearing layers again! We spent the afternoon at Kenwood House, roaming around the grounds and enjoying coffee and cake afterwards. The orange and lavender cake was delicious. Bertie thought so too.

Rainbow Brite

Does anyone remember Rainbow Brite? I had a doll, I’m sure I did....Anyway, I’m just popping in to share the rainbow that we spied from our window on Friday evening. Bertie was fascinated by it and awfully disappointed when it disappeared. He kept going back to the window to look for it!
Hope you’re enjoying your weekends. We’re going to the Foundling Museum this afternoon. Maisie has wanted to go for a while, as she has been reading a book with some references to it inside. That’s if we ever make it out of the door! Both Bertie and Dan are asleep. I can hear a lot of snoring right now, and it isn’t coming from Bertie.....See you soon.

Looking Up

Pretty summer skies captured with my Superheadz camera. I really enjoy using this little camera; I think more than my Diana Mini at the moment. Lots of fun. You can buy it here. Cheap and cheerful. (More sky pictures, sorry. My brother will reference this, I know it)!
So what will your weekends involve I wonder?
It's a bank holiday one here. We were supposed to be braving the Notting Hill Carnival on Sunday; which isn't really my cup of tea, plus I’m not great with crowds. So it has been decided that Dan will take Maisie on her own instead. I think taking Bertie would be a big mistake at this stage. In fact, I can't think of anything worse! Maybe another year.....(or maybe not).
Oooh, just noticed, it's the 26th, which means Bertie is 19 months old today. Time is flying!
Thanks for all your lovely comments this week! Enjoy the next couple of days :)

Evening

After the Transport Museum and dinner, it was such a beautiful evening that it seemed a shame to get straight on the bus and go home. Instead we headed to Trafalgar Square, where the sun was so warm, it cast a beautiful glow over everything. So lovely, but boy did we have a job separating Bertie from that fountain! People were watching as we tried to do so!

Outings

Hello and good day to you! I hope you all had nice weekends? We paid a visit to the London Transport Museum yesterday. I recommend. Children go in for free, so you just pay for yourselves. However, the tickets can be used as many times as you want to for a year, which I think is pretty good. Especially as Bertie loves buses and wheels! I didn’t take many pictures of actual modes of transport (not my bag man), but I promise you, it was fun.
As we made our way around, I couldn’t help chuckling to myself at some of the visitors in there, enthusiastically taking pictures of train engines and such like; they were so into it! In fact, I sneakily watched a man (clearly a train-fanatic) having the time of his life pretending to drive a tube train! He was really going for it! Rather sweet really.  :)

Sunday

I just came across this picture of Maisie floating over a field, taken almost a year ago! Hope you are having nice weekends :)

About Colour

Hej! Today I am thinking about colour palettes. We have some really nice bits and pieces in our home and tend to be drawn to brighter colours. I haven't ever felt the need for a running theme or to co-ordinate accessories; anything goes really, as long as we like it. I say ‘we’ but mostly mean ‘me.’ Sometimes Dan and I have different tastes. For example, he doesn’t like my Donna Wilson plates or any Ashley G bearded men. But still, I’ll let him off those before divorce is considered.

Anyway. Lately I have been feeling a bit cluttered and overwhelmed by all the colour surrounding me. I think I’m probably just feeling a bit down in the dumps; lots of crap going on in the world, summer coming to an end, etc. However, it has made me think about the impact colour has on my general mood. At the moment I need to feel calm and balanced, so am drawn to colour palettes such as those above. I love the pale, muted tones and any additional colour seems to accentuate the dreamy atmosphere of these interiors. Which makes me look around my own home and feel the opposite! Random colours thrown together, higgeldy piggeldy displays.....

So perhaps I just need to rearrange things a little and put a bit more thought into how I display my belongings. Maybe I’m having an off day?

How about you? How much of an effect does colour have on your mood? And is this reflected in your home? I’m interested to know your thoughts...

The pictures were sourced from these two beautiful blogs, 1, 2 and 3 LeDansla and 4 and 5 Holmberg Everyday Living. You really should check them out if you don’t know them.

Happy Weekends :) and Happy Birthday to my step-mum, Kim!

Family Living

I’m very happy to see my Smart Fox print in the latest Swedish Family Living magazine. Thank you to Dos Family’s Isabelle for including him in her ‘9 Favoriter' list, and thank you to Nathalie for taking these pictures and emailing them to me :)

If anyone has a spare copy, I’d love one for my records (happy to pay for any costs involved). Or, if you are a Swedish resident and don’t mind nipping out and grabbing me one (I can reimburse via paypal), please email me via the ‘contact’ link at the top.

I also want to congratulate my friend Francesca, who is the current Etsy Featured Seller. It’s a really lovely interview with her, and I’m sure her shop has become extra busy as a result! Yay!

A Bit Of Calm

We are back from a lovely weekend in Devon. Much needed after such an awful week in London. It’s really funny (and nice) going back as a ‘tourist!’ All the things I took for granted before, especially visiting the coast, are suddenly very appealing as a Londoner!
Anyway, Devon was relaxing and warm (with some looming grey clouds) but we managed a delicious picnic on Sidmouth beach and Bertie had his first paddle in the sea. He loved it! Maisie got completely soaked and had to wear Grandad’s shorts (ha), and we consumed the most delicious ice cream ever.
Now we have a week without Maisie as she is having a little holiday at my mum’s in Devon, catching up with her old school friends. I miss her already. I hope you all enjoyed your weekends.

Dan Sews

Helloooo. Do you like Bertie’s new top? My husband Dan made it last night. There’s a new haberdashery/cafe in Islington right by his work called Ray Stitch. After wandering in for a browse yesterday, Dan felt all inspired to make something for Bertie and left with a pattern and this super-cool bicycle fabric. Fast forward to 1.30am this morning, after a few hours and more than a few swear words, it was finished. Bertie seems pretty happy in it. A little bit big for him right now, but that’s good because he can wear it next year too. The style is slightly on the feminine side (in my opinion) even though the pattern was  unisex, but I don’t think Bertie minds!

Well done Dan!

Thank you for your nice messages this week. We are all ok here in London, after a rather sad and depressing week. I’m looking forward to travelling down to Devon this evening to see the family.

Enjoy your weekends and don’t forget my GIVEAWAY! Winners revealed on Monday :)

Check 1-2

Hello y’all. Just thought I would pop in to say hi. Not feeling too bloggy at the moment what with recent events. I hope you’re all well :) Don’t forget to enter my giveaway! Nice to see lots of entries......keep ‘em coming!

Also, some of you have asked about the prints being for sale. This little batch consists of just four prints...three for you and one for me! However, I do have plans for more very soon, so keep an eye out as I will let you know.

Goodnight/evening/morning x

It’s Friday

Have a nice weekend! I’m doing a screen printing class on Sunday. What will you be doing?

Superheadz

Hey all! Here are some recent shots from the first roll of film in my Superheadz camera. Pretty pleased, I must say. The third one is my favourite.

Thanks for all your comments on my messy home! It is even worse now. We have only added to the chaos! I should probably do something about it. We keep tripping over things!

At The End Of The Day...

...I am tired and the house is a mess. We have been out in the sunshine, so we’re having fish finger sandwiches for dinner because no one can be bothered to make anything else.
*Clink* that’ll be my nice, cold bottle of Budweiser. Cheers M’dears!
p.s. Pretty photos will resume shortly.

Summer

We’re enjoying the summer (while it’s here) so not much to say right now. I hope you are all having fun, whatever season you are in!

Have a look at my August favourite reads in the sidebar :)
