Fly Away

Hello. Just popping in today with some paper planes. I would so love to be on a real plane right now. A holiday would be most welcome....Hmmmm, where would we go? I keep seeing gorgeous pictures of people’s travels on their blogs and it makes me crave an escape even more. Some nice ones here, here, here.

I am very tired this week. Bertie’s sleep had finally started to improve, but now for some reason, we’re back where we were; he wakes frequently, I feed him, he’s in and out of our bed, I can’t sleep as he wriggles constantly and kicks me...never known fidgeting like it! Oooh, fun.

Wandering around in a daze is what I have been doing most of the week; tripping over toys, saucepans, sliding on baking trays, spoons (the latest play things). Yesterday Dan put a saucepan on the hob, switched on the gas, lifted the lid ready to add Bertie’s food and discovered a plastic pig inside...beginning to sweat. Pork for dinner? Admittedly we did have a chuckle as it really summed up my day!

And don’t get me started on Bertie’s eating habits...awful, barely eats a thing, only wants to eat rice cakes.....ho-hum.

So anyway, who’s coming on holiday with me and where shall we go?

  4. That photo is just pure magic! I'll be on a plane in 3 more sleeps... coming to Blighty actually, but I guess that's more exciting for me than you Kerry! :)) We could always house-swap but not sure if you're up for the 24 hour flight? New York sounds perfect - only 6 hours by plane :) Kx

  6. New York - with lots of money....from who knows who?!

I think motherhood is a series of dazes...we wander into one and a few weeks later we leave it, only to be repeated shortly after. It's late, I'm in a daze, and perhaps that doesn't make sense.

    New York?

  9. I sooo understand you and your need!! I have just the same situation with my son. He's so lovely and funny and cute...but I am really tired! I often dream of having wings, since I can't travel (and my spirit is yelling for it out loud)... Can you imagine that? Having wings and going up very high to see how small we all are? Well, I would like to go to Iceland, Mongolia and New Caledonian, but any place seems good to me as well.

  10. I'm with you on the holiday! Hang in there with the sleep thing.. been there. For some reason starting at age 2, my little sleeper started waking up on the hour, every hour during the night. I wanted to rip my hands off and eat em I was so tired! lol. But eventually, it all went away and sleep returned. Hang in there Maman! It will ease up.. : ) Meanwhile, vacation!

  11. I'm coming! I don't care where we go! When do we leave? Now? Ok! What? The kids are not invited? We leave them at home with their fathers? GREAT!!!

Ah (sigh) more seriously, I could have written this post: I am beyond tired, my place is a mess, baby Swann wakes up more than the law should allow, and he started crawling which means: danger everywhere!!!

PS: I love my children, that goes without saying :)

  13. That photo just makes you want to fly away. I fancy Barcelona. It has to be a city with living in the countryside. I'm glad you found the 'mess' funny. You have to laugh or cry or both!

  14. Oh Kerry, I was meaning to reply to your note about his sleeping. There's nothing to say but it bloody sucks! I hope Bertie improves soon (I find it's always two steps forward, three steps back with Olive). Night weaning is constantly on my mind at the moment .... but, how??? Far better to distract oneself with exciting travel plans. Kellie xx

  17. Oh the tiredness of lack of sleep make you do the most odd and sometimes dangerous thing!
I remember that I managed to burn on an electric hob Anita's food blender and cooker (a french device) I wasn't functioning properly and put it on the electric hob and switched the hob on!!! soon the house was full of smoke, the electric and plastic thing was melting and the alarm went off, we ( Anita then one and a half and I) had to stay in our pj's outside in the winter cold waiting for the smoke to clear...it was awful!
now I'll have a bit of plastic pig on the pan, please! : D
