Getting Ready!

Christmas has begun in the Seventy Tree house! We’re using the same tree as last year - she’s done well in her little pot! Maisie and Dan made some garlands the other night, as she was looking a little sparsely decorated (I have no idea why I am referring to a Christmas tree as ’she;’ slightly ashamed of myself there - that’s not to say that any of you should be ashamed if your Christmas tree is a ’she’ or even a ‘he’....just saying)! Aaaanyway, the tree looks much better now with these additions.
This year’s advent calendar, in the second picture, is a pop-up Eric Carle one, which we are very pleased with. Bertie assisted me in filling a pot with some branches (I had to rearrange them to look reasonably presentable), and we hung our wooden nativity decorations on them. Sweet. I just need to start feeling Christmasy now. Best go and put my Jackson Five Christmas record on, or maybe The Temptations Christmas Collection...decisions, decisions! What’s your favourite christmas song/album?
Ho-Ho-Ho-ly-Moly, it’s Christmas time!
Have a nice weekend y’all!
p.s. Thank you so much for Maisie’s lovely Birthday wishes. She was very happy to read them all :)

  2. What a lovely tree. When I was little we also used to string popcorn on the tree. By the end of Christmas season my cat would have eaten it all (and our tree was about 6ft so it was a lot of popcorn). In terms of music, I just love the random mix of Christmas classics.

  4. Super christmasy tree! Our home is pretty much devoid of all decorations at the moment, we have to wait til after Dan's birthday on the 14th. HUmpf! Love your popcorn garland. I made them one year...not long after putting the dec's back in the loft, we were woken to scrabbling around. MICE!! They found the popcorn and ate that, the lights and any other nibbly thing they could find. - old house, not this one thankfully! So throw them away after xmas. Phew that was a long one! Lou xx

  8. Can't believe you've managed to keep the same tree... well, I can believe you've done it, I know mine wouldn't last a month if I tried! Love the popcorn and felt ball garlands :) We're hopefully getting our tree tonight – pull out of the box of xmas stuff last night so I'm so looking forward to listening to 'she & him' xmas album and maybe drinking some hot cider! :)

  9. Lovely tree - am going to start decorating this weekend but have promised my daughter that we will not do the tree til she gets back from Venice (uni trip) next Tuesday.
Love the Phil Spector classic and the very cheesy Christmas with Nat & Dean. We bought Bob Dylan's album which is frankly funny at times! Sufjan has also released a Christmas album that has stickers!Yay! Loving that too.

  18. Your tree looks absolutely beautiful with all the handmade touches. The garland really sets it off. This year we've been enjoying the She and Him xmas and a mixed cd of Bing, Judy etc. Old versions of Frosty the Snowman are a real kiddie favourite here.

  19. howdy...hope you are still feeling festive after the bug that came to visit? we have popcorn too on our tree. every day elsa tries her luck at pinching decs by claiming she lurves them so much just so i give in and let her run around with a star or birdy. so the arrangement is pretty organic :o) we are christmas song kerazy here. i am a total jackson 5 girl too after going loopy to the album with my brother many years ago it always brings back great memories now. i am loving the she and him one too this year and yes i admit there is something that makes me very happy when step into xmas comes on in the shuffle. elton john. i don't care!! plus i sang the whole of do they know it's xmas? acapella to elsa in the car today...she gave me very strange looks :o) xxx
