Boooo

A sad moment for me. During a ’I don’t want to go to bed' tantrum last night, Dan picked Bertie up in the kitchen and the little monkey took his rage out on my plate - swiping it off the wall! All I heard was the loud crash as it hit the floor. My reaction was to quietly go and get the dustpan and brush and sweep up the little chippings of broken plate. I had nothing to say. Goodbye fox-on-a-bike-with-baguette plate....

  1. I'm new here, so I don't know the history of the lovely plate! But... If you can't get a new one, you could glue this together, right? It won't be quite the same, but the pretty motif looks undamaged...

    1. ah thank you. My husband got it for me for my birthday. I think the picture makes the damage look better than it actually is, so it’s goodbye time. I may try and get another one as they still have them. Thanks for visiting :)

  3. Yes, please do glue it, it will be a plate full of memories! (you will laugh about it someday!). I read an article once about a woman saying, that the more her things got scratched or damaged, the more they are part of her, and the story of her life. Does that help?

    1. I’m not sure - it looks pretty bad. But that does help, thank you - maybe we’ll try glueing it :)

    1. Oh, I'm so sorry!

My christening gift is a koala bear statue that once dropped and broke. I think it was while moving houses and my dad felt so bad (i can't remeber if was him who dropped it) and i was so sad that we glued it back together together with my dad. i must have been about 3 at that time and it was a good moment, both of us had the chance to show our emotions and do something to fix the situation. Does Bertie know your sad?

      The picture is beautiful!

  12. :( oh dear...
my brother broke a lot of things when he was little, I'm pretty sure my parents have a bunch of stuff still glued together :)
At least the fox is ok. I remember using a mosaic clipper/cutter thing the rescue part of a plate before but it might be difficult given that your plate looks quite curved to the middle. Could be a nice way to rescue the fox as an object.

    1. Oooh, how funny, except yours is ‘Maisy’ and mine is ‘Maisie’ ! Yes, I keep saying ‘Maisie didn’t do this’ or ‘I’m sure Maisie never did this!’ They are certainly funny little things. Very forgivable though! Thank you for your lovely comment :) Hope to see you here again x

  18. We seem to be loosing/breaking quite a few things here at the moment. I hate throwing things away, so I do have a mosaic stash... not that I can ever imagine making a mosaic, but you NEVER know! Anyway, sympathy from here, annoying when they have tantrums, even more annoying when they break your things.

Poor Bertie - I am guessing her got a fright
And very poor you - so hard not to get angry when something like this happens but you sound like you were very calm.
Maybe now you can buy a replacement - something that you have had your eye on?
