Goodbye January

I haven't shown you my typewriter before have I? It was a birthday present from my husband. Every weekend, he bakes a bran loaf for me to snack on during the week (I'm a bit naughty and forget to eat sometimes...oops). It is usually almost gone by now (just gobbling up another slice as I write this)! It's practically health food!
The deer is a recent charity shop find....one of a family of four. My 'Oh Comely' magazine landed on the doormat ages ago, but I haven't had much of a chance to read it yet. The final picture is of our brand new Marimekko shower curtain....left kindly by the lady who was styling our home for the shoot. Very pleased with this, as normally, we're a £2.99 shower curtain kind of family...so this feels rather luxurious!

And in answer to your questions about the magazine shoot, it is for an autumn issue, so I will let you know when it is out/post pictures on here. We thought it would be a nice way of looking back on our first home and what we've achieved with our teeny tiny budget. Actually, we managed to fund most of our renovations with money and vouchers received
as gifts, from our wedding. So I really do recommend buying a house and getting married within the space of two weeks like we did...stressful, but beneficial if you need to do up your home!!

  1. Wow! How glamorous having a photo shoot of your lovely home. Did you offer it up to a mag, or did they find you via here? Love, love love the typewriter & deer...and slightly jealous of any free marimekko! YOu are one lucky lady Lou xx

  2. Ohhh, that typewriter is magnificent! And the Marimekko-curtain is gorgeous too. Lucky you!

We are renovating our house with our savings. Stretching out the work (we are DIY-ing for four years now) works as a charm. And I don't think we will get married: also saves a lót of money. ;)

  4. I have shower curtain envy. We have a glass door and so are destined never to have a lovely patterned Marimekko curtain hanging in the bathroom.

  8. That typewriter looks a lot like the illustrations of Susie Garhermani's (boygirlparty) don't you think?

    Homemade bread is the best!
Maybe you would like to share the recipe?

    Have a lovely week!

    Best regard, Ms.Dapper

  13. What a magical typewriter! Now that is the kind of machine to start your memoirs on.... with the aid of a freshly baked loaf of course.

  14. Oh I wouldn't mind a bran loaf each week. Great photos, maybe we should invest in a fancy shower curtain instead of the usual ones from Ikea...
