Bits From The Weekend

Pictures from the weekend. You can read the list of what we got up to below.
In other news, I am thinking of moving my blog across to wordpress...any thoughts on this? I’m getting bored of all the problems I seem to encounter regularly with blogger...like today. I can’t see the followers on my blog, or on lots of other blogs I read. This has happened several times lately, and I know it’s not a particularly big deal, but it’s just another little niggle with blogger. Can you see my followers? If so, which browser are you using? Mine is Safari.

Update...well at the moment, I can see them again, but who knows how long they’ll stick around for this time? Thank you for all your helpful comments :)

  7. The worst thing I had happen with blogger recently was it synced my dashboard feed with someone elses and filled the dashboard with around 30-40 posts saying they were from "me" but they were in another language off someone elses blog. I was furious and they did NOTHING on the forums to help me. To this day I have no received a response. If i was more confident with blog hosting etc I would shift for sure.

  10. I can't see your followers, and I'm using Internet Explorer. Blogger has been a tad annoying for me too as of recent, I sign in over and over but it still won't let me post comments using my blog account. Wordpress could definitely be a good idea :).

Such wonderful pictures by the way. I love the first two. And the little squirrel spray painted onto the wall.

If you decide to move first you can give me some tips!!!

  12. I've had exactly the same problem, Kerry, and I'm with blogger on Safari too... who knows what is causing it. I did actually try to set up a wordpress page but abandoned it - don't know if I've been brainwashed but I just couldn't get my head around it; couldn't work out how to do all the things I was used to doing so easily on blogger. Good luck - I hope it works better for you. Kx

  15. We had the same problem with our blog too yesterday: we couldn't see our follower either. But we switched from Wordpress to blogger because Wordpress it not so flexible with lay-outs etc.... But Wordpress is not too difficult, if you decide to switch.

    Good luck!

  16. I can see your followers, using Chrome on OS X. I use Wordpress myself and absolutely love it -- it's pretty easy to set up self-hosting too, so you could just be theseventytree.com (if the URL is indeed available).

If you're looking into hosting providers, I use Hostgator and have never had a problem with them. Fasthosts on the other hand, I will recommend you steer clear of -- they lost my whole blog about 18 months ago!

  17. Wordpress is much more powerful than Blogger, but also fiddlier -- I'm a professional wed designer and i struggle to get things to look how i'd like them o_O You also need to pay to use custom designs whereas it's free on Blogger (oh, and you can self-host blogger on your own domain as well as WP).

  19. I started on blogger, moved to wordpress and now I'm back after a year. Wordpress just was not for me...it was difficult to use and frustrating. I'll take blogger any day...even with the little hiccups. And when I moved I lost all my good links so my numbers went down. But since I blog for myself and not to make other people happy. I'm okay with that.

  21. Love your snippets of your weekend adventures!

Hmmm ... a blog move, I would be too nervous but agree that blogger can be a bit frustrating at times! But ... at the same time, is any blogging platform perfect?

  22. I love the red squirrel picture!

I moved from to Blogger recently because the free version of Wordpress wouldn't allow me to fiddle with my design as much as I would have liked. Or, in fact, much at all. That said, at least I didn't have to go fiddling about with HTML just to get a photo in the middle of my bullet points...

  27. Lovely pics - I had constant strange going-ons with - extra lines on posts, followers not visible and dashboard emptied. They only lasted for 24 hrs at a time but were frustrating. I switched from Internet Explorer 8 to Google Chrome yesterday and it has made a massive difference so far, so would really suggest that move first to see if it irons out yours. I hope so and good luck! Interesting that some move from Wordpress to Blogger - I really thought it was only ever the other way round!

  36. I like wordpress, but then I've never blogged in blogger so not a very good comparison. There are still niggles in wordpress and have had a few today that are irritating. I can see your followers - I use google chrome, currently my fave (have used both safari and firefox). Gorgeous pictures (and shoes) as ever :)
