Yes,
autumn certainly seems to have made itself known here. The leaves are
crisp and golden, and I keep tripping over conkers. Bertie loves
conkers, so watch out if you happen to pass us in the street and he is
armed with one!
Yesterday
was Maisie’s final day of the holidays. The weather was hideous, but we
decided to make the best of it and headed to Camden for ice-cream. And I
don’t mean any old ice cream. I’m talking about Europe’s first nitro
ice-cream parlour; Chin Chin Labs!
We had been meaning to visit for a while, so Tuesday seemed an
appropriate day for a treat. It was actually just Maisie that had the
ice-cream, but Dan and I had a good delve in too. Delicious.
As
you can see from the pictures, making this ice-cream is a science. Your
ice cream is made to order with liquid nitrogen, so you get to watch
the whole process; exciting stuff! Maisie went for chocolate flavour
with honeycomb sprinkles and salted caramel sauce. Quite a rich
combination, but she managed it (this child can eat, I tell you)!
What’s
that? You see sugar doughnuts there too? Er, that was our lunch. We
took a long, blustery walk up to Primrose Hill (which we had pretty much
to ourselves) and realised in all the liquid nitrogen excitement, we’d
missed lunch. Please note, we do have a wholesome, healthy diet most of
the time!
A good day.
oh! i have to go there, and soon!
ReplyDeletealso - conkers, already. how did that happen?
These treats look....DIVINE!!! I just love your photos!
ReplyDeleteBertie would love our place. We have a conker tree right outside our front door. As for ice-cream - I'd be their number 1 customer :)
ReplyDeleteyou are so lucky! i wish it was fall here already. :) guess i'll just have to come visit! that ice cream looks amazing, by the way.
ReplyDeleteCool concept.

But what is a "nitro ice-cream" ???
ReplyDeleteThat ice-cream 'lab' sounds pretty amazing (though I generally prefer gelato) and the perfect way to celebrate the arrival of autumn.
ReplyDeleteThere's never a bad time for icecream - especially when it looks that good and Maisie's choice sounds quite amazing! Sounds like you all had a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteautumn arrived, so we bought an ice cream maker ;)
ReplyDeleteOooo. Sweet :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to London in a few days, will have to try and find it!
Sounds like a perfect day. Doughnuts for lunch sounds brilliant to me. And we've been eating icecream too. Nobbly Bobbly's to be precise. Hardly any icecreams throughout the summer then bam, autumn arrives and we tuck in. Not as tasty as Maisie's looks though! x
ReplyDeleteI love London in Autumn... my favourite time actually :) Thanks for the tip about Nitro Ice-Creams in Camden. I've printed out the link and I'm sure my girls are going to want to go there whatever the weather is like when we get there in a couple of weeks :)) Actually, I might ask your advice closer to the date re what I should pack - I get it wrong every year! Looks like a wonderful day. You do so many fabulous things with your kids. Kx
ReplyDeletep.s. love doughnuts :)
Whoa! We live here and haven't even gotten to ChinChin yet- you're one up on us!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog & pics!
ReplyDeleteKylie, ask away! You should definitely try it out. I’m sure your girls will love it!
ReplyDeleteLa Rimule, It’s how the ice cream is made. They freeze it in front of you using the nitrogen gas, then mix it all up....ta-da, there’s your ice cream. It’s fun to watch :)
Susk, get your bums down there I say :) I thought of you whilst wandering around, thinking “I’m in her hood” !
Looks pretty awesome - a great autumn day,
ReplyDeleteA xx
That ice cream place looks amazing! On my visit list now!
