Hi

Good day to you. Here are a few home randoms. It is half term at the moment so I’m a bit busy with the small folk plus we’re going to Devon this weekend. My friend is getting married, so it’s get-dressed-up-all-smart time. No idea what to wear, heeelp! And don’t even get me started on footwear. I only wear trainers, so I think I might have to try and fit in a quick shop before we go. Wish me luck! I hope you’re all having a good week :)

P.S. By the way, yes those are red lentils you see there all over my floor. This is becoming an almost everyday occurrence. I usually put some into a baking tray and Bertie likes to ‘scoop’ them up with his diggers, but they generally end up everywhere - and in strange places around the home too. I don’t think I can cope with the sound of hundreds of lentils hitting the floor and scattering much longer! New game required, me thinks.

  1. Congratulation to your friends and good luck to you.

The last picture makes me want to throw lentils on my floor.

    1. Ah yes, it’s lovely isn’t it - good old Ikea! Yes, they do look rather pretty in the picture, but the reality, not so! Have a nice weekend too :)

  3. Hehe, although these lentils look awesome I can only imagine you cleaning up the place!

  4. He he he, that is like when I spill rice or sugar - not fun! That little barn print is very cute. Well, I hate to break it to you, but you might have to buy some low heels (no use scaring you with 5 inchers straight off) - unless its a garden wedding - like lentils hitting the floor, the last thing you want to hear is your heels sinking into the grass! x

    1. Exactly! The barn print is by Jen Collins - cute isn’t it?!

Yes, you’re right, they have to be flats actually. I just don’t do heels! x

  5. Wishing you a nice shoe picking day and a lovely weekend! Bertie's game looks so cool in pictures, not so sure how you can convince him to give it up. What can be cooler than hundreds of lentils hitting the floor?

    1. Yes, the picture looks nice, but it is a massive hassle, and they never completely disappear - they keep appearing even when you think you’ve hoovered up the last lentil. Bloomin’ things!

  19. Those lentils look like confetti :) but wow, the clearing up must be tiresome.
Might that lovely tray be Ikea? Lovely. I think I might be suffering from Ikea withdrawal, I seem to spot it everywhere now since I haven't been able to make the trip for a while, too busy really.
Good luck with the wedding, and shopping... some nice simple cute flats are a staple :)

Yes, it’s Ikea. It’s really sweet and a nice change to have some flowers (instead of triangles!) Hope you can get an Ikea trip in soon.
Thank you - yes, it’ll definitely be flats :)

  22. We have a little problem with rice crisps at the moment. Not so pretty as lentils and a right mess once they've been stood on....Clarks do some pretty good dressy up shoes that don't kill the trainer wearer x

    1. Oh no, rice crispies - we have that too somedays. Bertie has them for breakfast, but they end up everywhere - and yes, trodden on and all sorts!

Will check out good ol’ Clarks! Thank you :) x

  25. Those lentils look so beautiful on the floor like that! I think it's a gorgeous photo!...but yes, cleaning up is not so fun ;) Have a wonderful time at the wedding and in Devon, Kerry. It sounds like you're going to have a great time. Finding something to wear is so hard though... I really hate being so 'dressed up' I feel like I'm in a straight-jacket! Hope you find a happy medium :) Kx

  27. Hope the wedding was fun Kerry! I am not a big fan on getting dressed up at all. I don't feel like myself all dolled up, and I walk like a man in drag if I have to (god forbid) wear high heels!

    1. Hi Lisa, yes we had a really nice time thanks and I found some nice things to wear, plus flat brogue-style shoes. All things that I will wear again! Nothing worse than spending money on something you’ll wear once. I am just the same with heels and dressing up smart - don’t feel like me at all. Fortunately, I found a nice maxi dress I was really comfortable in and the shoes were from Clarks! So I did pretty well really! Hope you’re good x

    1. Hi Saskia, thank you for your comment. In the ‘about’ section at the top of the page, you can see the camera I use, but I will tell you here anyway - I uses a Canon EOS 500D with a 50mm 1.8 lens. To edit my pictures, I generally use Picmonkey and sometimes Photoshop, Aperture and Snapspeed. Hope this is helpful. Have a nice day :) x

  35. I love these photos Kerry! And that tray! I think I need to make another weekend trip to IKEA soon... A handy tip with the lentils (or rice or anything small) is to place an old bed sheet down first, then you just pick up the sheet and tip the contents back in the container they came from. Saves cleaning up all the time ;) I hope you had fun at the wedding :) x
