Bits Of London (1)

Hey all! How are you? I feel like I've been away for years! We're all completely worn out, and I have a cold. Boo. I think my away-from-home diet consisted of waaay too much junk....danish pastries, fresh doughnuts, coffees, a chinese takeaway, burger and fries, chocolate, crisps...you name it, I ate it! Hence the cold! But anyway, as promised, here are some pics from our London trip. This was the day we visited Tate Modern (when I was hormonal and snappy)! Still, twas a great day spent mooching around and then greeting the early evening glow as we walked alongside the river.

The first picture of the lift represents the fact that NO ONE gave priority to people (us), with pushchairs, babies etc. They just dashed in without a care in the world. Bertie and I ended up taking the stairs. I could barely breathe once I got to the top (need to get fit...although he is a massive lump). Ai Weiwei's sunflower seeds were breathtaking. I thoroughly recommend seeing them for yourselves if you haven't already.

After the Tate, we landed in EAT for drinks/snacks. Maisie had one of her 'giggle fits' in there. She has a lot of these at the moment. This is her, mid-fit!

More tomorrow. Also, thank you for all of your orders this past week! I will be introducing some new things I've been working on, very soon....

Suitcase

Helloooo from London! I lined this post up yesterday. Here is my new/old suitcase, a recent gift from my husband. He found it in a charity shop, and knew I would love it....which I do of course! It is in almost mint condition, and the patterned lining is really pretty (and very girly, which isn't usually me, but in this instance, I like). Also, it's the perfect size for our weekend trips to London (or soon to be Devon). Much more pleasing than the old Primark bag I was lugging around before. I was a bit concerned it would smell of jumble sales and old ladies (no offense old ladies), but it doesn't. Phew.

Red

Helloooo, how are you all? Yesterday I was feeling the cold all day, and ended up throwing on my husband's red, striped jumper with my red scarf. This made me think about all-things-red, so I went around the house on a little 'red' hunt. We have an awful lot of this colour popping up in our home, yet it's not particularly my favourite colour. What is your favourite colour, and does it appear much in your own home?

10% off in my shop. Use the code YAY at the checkout! Ends on Friday. I'll just keep plugging it until the offer ends.

Colour + Tiredness

A random selection today, although quite a good match of vibrant colours for this very grey day. Maisie made the chair at school. I love its form, and the rainbow fleece fabric and cushion. The next one was taken back last summer in Bath; nice lamps/window/coloured paintwork. Lastly my shelf of yellow/orange/red books. So there we are, some colour!

On a separate note, I am STILL not getting any sleep. The nights are a joke! Let me tell you about last night, just because I need to get it off my chest...

Between 12am and 2am, Bertie was unsettled, and woke up several times, so in the end I was so tired I brought him into our bed, hoping to get a bit more sleep. Boy, was I wrong about that! I have been trying really hard not to do this, and trying hard not to feed him in the night too, but last night I caved in as I was soooo tired. Anyway, he was then WIDE awake for ages. It was awful. He was in between my husband and I behaving like some kind of wild, wailing banshee; flailing his arms everywhere. Today I feel like I have been beaten up! Injuries involved....

General whacks to the face/head while he flapped his arms around.
Kicks to the stomach as he lay horizontally, with his head by my husband and feet against me.
General hair pulling as he grabbed at everything.
Head butted in the lip...ouch.
And finally (and possibly the final straw), with full force, his finger went up my nostril!!

This is beyond funny (even if it does look quite funny listed here)! You are allowed to laugh, it's ok!

My GIVEAWAY is still going...winner announced on Friday!

A Feast...

...of beautiful spaces, colour and texture. All found here, via this nice blog. I spent aaaages on there whilst Bertie had a nap (should really have been having a tidy up, but hey, life's too short)!
Thanks for all your lovely comments on my anniversary gift. Obviously my husband now thinks he's THE man! Which of course he is in my opinion (most of the time) he he!
Lots of entries in my GIVEAWAY...keep them coming!

My Gift

As today is a day for all things romance, I thought I would share this with you. I mentioned the other day that my husband got me a really special anniversary gift. Well, here it is! It was apparantly our 'leather' anniversary, so he designed and had made, this beautiful, engraved leather notebook cover. And how very sweet, that it has my bear, my logo and everything on it? I love it, and I am a very proud lady! Yes, I am very glad I married him! And as for his gift...oooops....nothing as of yet...worst wife ever.

GIVEAWAY! I will keep reminding you up until Friday when I announce the winner.

All That Remains...

...is me, sipping a Starbucks coffee. Sadly, almost a whole roll of film (albeit this one and a couple of blurry ones) that we took over Christmas didn't come out. Boooo. We had a feeling it would be the case....hooray for digital! It's still disappointing though. There were pictures of Maisie and I ice skating at the Tower Of London on Christmas eve. I was really looking forward to seeing those. This photo was taken after the ice skating....some nice cake was involved too. Not all bad I guess.

Good Post

Just arrived! I HAD to share this with you. I recently ordered this wonderful fox painting from Dinara Mirtalipova's Etsy shop. I fell instantly in love (of course) and when I saw that Dinara only shipped within the US, I messaged her to see if she'd make an exception....and she did! And here he is! Mega love!! And I have to say, that Dinara's packaging was beautiful. So much care and thought had gone into every last detail. Even the outside looked pretty, with ribbon and stickers. Inside...more ribbon, tissue paper, a business card and hand-stamped envelope with a postcard inside. All held together with a very sweet hand-painted wooden peg....Charming! Possibly one of the best packages I have ever received.  Dinara has a blog too. I truly recommend you visit it and her shop, as she is an extremely talented lady...and my fox is even better in the flesh.

Until Next Week...

Have a lovely weekend. We are driving up to London this evening....have a few places lined up to view tomorrow, so we shall see. I will be back next week with something more interesting than this (I hope)! It has been a hard week! Byeeee x

Postcards

Hello, hello. Just a quick post to say that these previously sold-out postcards are now back in my shop. Stick them, frame them, send them....whatever you do, they're a nice little extra to accompany your order!!
In other news, I am extremely tired. We have a poorly Bertie, so have only had a couple of hours sleep (dreadful, dreadful night). I think today is going to be a challenge. I hope it's better where you are!

Keeping Warm

I failed miserably in my attempts at making Bertie a scarf. It is particularly cold here at the moment, and I am always wearing mine (even indoors). Feeling rather bad for taking Bertie outside scarf-less, I caved in and bought this lovely Bobo Choses one in the sale. Soft, cosy and warm....perfect. Bertie is taking this scarf-wearing lark pretty seriously, as you can see!

Goodbye January

I haven't shown you my typewriter before have I? It was a birthday present from my husband. Every weekend, he bakes a bran loaf for me to snack on during the week (I'm a bit naughty and forget to eat sometimes...oops). It is usually almost gone by now (just gobbling up another slice as I write this)! It's practically health food!
The deer is a recent charity shop find....one of a family of four. My 'Oh Comely' magazine landed on the doormat ages ago, but I haven't had much of a chance to read it yet. The final picture is of our brand new Marimekko shower curtain....left kindly by the lady who was styling our home for the shoot. Very pleased with this, as normally, we're a £2.99 shower curtain kind of family...so this feels rather luxurious!

And in answer to your questions about the magazine shoot, it is for an autumn issue, so I will let you know when it is out/post pictures on here. We thought it would be a nice way of looking back on our first home and what we've achieved with our teeny tiny budget. Actually, we managed to fund most of our renovations with money and vouchers received
as gifts, from our wedding. So I really do recommend buying a house and getting married within the space of two weeks like we did...stressful, but beneficial if you need to do up your home!!
